Event ID 1000 Logged in Application Event Log April 5, 2007

GPO Policies were not being enforced when users logged in to terminal services. Checking the event log, I found the following error:

Event ID: 1000

User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: SERVERNAME
Description:Windows cannot determine the user or computer name. Return value (1722).
The problem was that the DNS server had stopped working when AD was removed. I repointed the DNS settings to another valid DNS server and all is well.
